GSAS Travel or Conference Grants
All currently enrolled Appalachian graduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply for a travel grant of up to $500. The grant can be used to defray the cost of travel to present results of their research or creative performance at a professional conference in their field. Graduate students who expect to incur research expenses related to their research, are encourage to also apply for a Graduate Student Research Grant.
Note: In order to apply for this grant, your program/department must have a GSAS senator.
To Apply
Step 1. Have your faculty advisor complete the Faculty Recommendation Form (PDF), sign it and mail it to: Kathy Weaver Stevens, Office of Student Research, Room 385, John E. Thomas Administration Building, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC 28608.
Step 2. Submit the GSAS Travel Grant Application Form.
Application deadlines are September 18, 2009, November 4, 2009, February 1, 2010, March 1, 2010 and April 1, 2010.
Requirements
- You must read and follow the GSAS Guidelines. If you do not follow these guidelines, you will NOT receive funding.
- The travel must be completed and the request for reimbursement must be made either while the student is still enrolled or within 3 months of graduation.
- Priority will be given to students who also present their work at the Annual Celebration of Student Research and Creative Endeavors at Appalachian.
- A Travel Authorization form (available from your Faculty Advisor) must be completed prior to travel - reimbursements will not be issued after the fact.
- Original receipts or invoices will be required for reimbursement through the Graduate School.
Final Report
At the completion of the travel, grantees will be asked to submit a Final Report summarizing their experiences at the conference.
