All currently enrolled Appalachian undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing are eligible to apply for a research grant of up to $500. The grant can be used for research supplies or research related expenses. This also includes any of the costs associated with designing or printing a poster for your presentation. Receipts or invoices may be required for reimbursement by individual departments.
Students who expect to incur travel expenses related to presenting their research, are encourage to also apply for a Travel Grant.
In order to justify awarding a research grant, the Office of Student Research must have a descriptive Project Title and a detailed Project Description and Budget Justification. This Sample Research Application is an excellent example of a completed application. All grants must be completely expended by the end of the fiscal year in which they are awarded.

Applications received by the 15th of each month will be reviewed prior to the end of the month. Award notifications will be made at the end of each month.
At the completion of the research, grantees will be asked to submit a Final Report explaining how the award was used and to acknowledge support from the respective funds in any publications resulting from the research.
