Prestigious Scholars Grants

All currently enrolled Appalachian undergraduate students with GPAs of 3.75 or higher are eligible to apply for a Prestigious Scholars grant of up to $750. Grants for international research may be for up to $1000.00. Applicants also are strongly encouraged to apply for a state, regional, or national scholarship. The grant can be used for research supplies or research related expenses. Receipts or invoices may be required for reimbursement by individual departments. Students who expect to incur travel expenses related to their research, are encourage to also apply for a Travel Grant.

To Apply

Step 1. Submit a Letter of Support from your faculty advisor. Send Letters to Dr. Dale Wheeler,, Director of the Prestigious Scholars Program, Heltzer Honors Program.

Step 2. Submit the Prestigious Scholars Grant Application Form

Award Notifications

Applications received by the 15th of each month will be reviewed prior to the end of the month. Award notifications will be made at the end of each month.

Final Report

At the completion of the research, grantees will be asked to submit the Final Report Form explaining how the award was used and to acknowledge support from the respective funds in any publications resulting from the research.
