  • Appalachian Undergraduate Academy of Science - A National Science Supported Scholarship Program is now available through the STEP Project web page. The goal of this project is to increase the number of students receiving baccalaureate degrees in established or emerging fields within science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). More>>
  • ASU Students Place First and Third at the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine 2009 Annual Meeting. Ashley Williams placed first in the Student Research Competition and is mentored by Dr. David Nieman of the Health, Leisure and Exercise Science Department and Dr. Dru Henson of the Biology Department. Lindsay Schreiber placed third in the Student Research Competition and is mentored by Dr. John Quindry of the Health, Leisure and Exercise Science Department. More>>
  • Graduate Students in the Communication Disorders Program at ASU present posters at the Annual Meeting of the Dysphagia Research Society. Fletcher Hietpas and Caroline Chandler presented posters to this prestigious research society with funded grants from the Office of Student Research.   • 5 different types of research grants are available. Amounts range from $500 to $1500. Students can apply for an OSR Research Grant, a Be Active NC Appalachian Partnership Grant, a Public Service Research Program Grant, and International Student Research Grant, or a Graduate Student Research Grant. The Office of Student Research is a unit within Appalachian's University College. University College consists of the university's integrated general education curriculum, academic support services, residential learning communities, interdisciplinary degree programs and co-curricular programming - all designed to support the work of students both inside and outside of the classroom.
